God Cares
We live in a world torn by distress and full of worry, concerned about what might happen in our lives and the lives of our loved ones and friends. Deuteronomy 31:6 states, “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” What a promise for God to give us, hope not only for today but for every day that is coming in the future. God always goes before us to watch over us. He gives us an example of His care in the story of the European water spider, which I found on the internet author unknown.
“The European water spider lives at the bottom of the lake, but it breathes air. This amazing creature does a somersault on the surface of the water, catches a bubble of air, holds it over the breathing holes in the middle of its body while it swims to the bottom of the lake, and spins a silk web among the seaweed. Then it ascends and brings down bubble after bubble until a little balloon of air is formed where it can live and eat and mate. Its brain is about the size of the head of a straight pin. We properly draw a lesson from such an astonishing technology about God’s creative wonder, but let’s not miss an even more important point. If God is so concerned to provide for spiders, how can we doubt that He will take care of us.
In Matthew 6:25-26 we are told, “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”
In 2 Kings 6:8-17, we find the story of the King of Syria who sent an army to capture Elisha because Elisha was interfering with his desire to
capture the King of Israel. Elisha’s servant saw the Assyrian army and was afraid and so Elisha asked God to open his servant’s eyes and when he did and the servant saw heavenly host surrounding the Assyrian army to protect His son Elisha. God never forsakes His children.
The last part of Matthew 20:28 says this, “And behold I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” God will never leave us or forsake us. God will always be there in our time of need if we call on Him with all our Heart.
