“CHAPLAIN DAVID’S MESSAGES OF TIMELESS TRUTHS”

Some people retire from ministry. Others never stop running the race. Chaplain David Losey was the kind who never slowed down. Even into his mid-80s, he served with passion, showing up for chaplain calls, encouraging young people, mentoring others, and pouring out God’s Word with clarity and grace. His life was a living sermon, and his words were often exactly what someone needed in the moment. Though he has gone home to be with the Lord, his wisdom lives on.

In honor of our friend and colleague, we’ve compiled some of the most memorable truths Chaplain David shared with us through his powerful devotionals. Each is rooted in Scripture and tested through a life of faithful ministry. We hope his words are as encouraging to you as they have been to our team.

Chaplain David’s Timeless Truths

Peace begins with prayer, not control.

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” – Philippians 4:6

Chaplain David reminded us that God’s peace isn’t found in perfect circumstances. It is found when we hand over our worries and trust Him with the outcome.

Right thinking guards your heart.

“Whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely… think about such things.” – Philippians 4:8

Our minds shape our walk. When we choose to focus on what’s good and godly, we become better chaplains, friends, and followers of Christ.

Truth is measured by the Word, not the world.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” – Proverbs 3:5

Culture and science may shift, but God’s truth is unchanging. Chaplain David warned us not to get distracted by secular narratives that oppose Scripture. Instead, we should focus on what is good, true, and right.

Victory doesn’t always feel like winning, but it is.

“Thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession.” – 2 Corinthians 2:14

Whether on a quiet chaplain call or in a chaotic crisis, we walk in victory because we walk with Jesus. We plant seeds. God does the growing.

Ministry is obedience, not outcome.

“The Spirit of the Lord spoke by me… He who rules over men righteously… is like the light of the morning.”      2 Samuel 23:2-4

We may never see the results of our presence, but Chaplain David taught us to trust that God finishes what we start. Every visit is a divine appointment.

God holds the future, so walk with hope.

“I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 3:14

Chaplain David encouraged us to look forward, not with fear, but with anticipation. God’s vision for our lives is bigger than we can see from here.

Consistency in relationships matters.

“Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works.” – Hebrews 10:24

Chaplain David reminded us that ministry happens in the context of relationship. Our presence and encouragement can be the lifeline someone else needs.

Live for eternity, not applause.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” – Matthew 25:23

Chaplain David kept his eyes on heaven. He knew that true success isn’t found in recognition, but in hearing those words from the Lord.

Now he is blessed to hear them himself.

On a personal note, I was blessed to know Chaplain David. His words were wise, but his life spoke even louder. You could see Jesus in Him. In a time when many stepped back, he stepped up. He served with energy, purpose, and joy well into his 80s. He showed us that you’re never too old to make an impact and never too seasoned to keep learning, serving, and loving others well.

Many of us were mentored by Chaplain David in one way or another. Some directly, others simply by watching the way he carried himself. The world is better because he didn’t quit. And we are better for having known him. He will forever be an encouragement to me and will continue to have an impact through the many of us that were lucky enough to know him and learn from him.

Prayer:
We thank You for the life and legacy of Chaplain David. Thank You for the truths he shared, the lives he touched, and the faithful example he set for us all. His life reminds us that ministry is not a season but a calling, and that true victory is found in walking closely with You.

Help us to carry forward the wisdom he lived by: to seek peace through prayer, to think rightly and live boldly, to serve without needing applause, and to trust You with every outcome. May we continue to plant seeds with faith, love others with consistency, and walk each day with hope in Your promises.

Comfort those who miss him. Encourage those he mentored. And let his example inspire us to finish our race with the same courage and joy that he did.

In Jesus’ Name,  Amen.
